Ashley Barnhart

Being a lover of delicious food and all things healthy, Ashley has been sharing her nutrition experiences for the last decade through social media, online blogs and local publications. Having her first child in 2011, Ashley set a goal of competing in her first figure competition before her son turned one. After winning her show she went on the compete again as a client of Dr. Joe Klemczewski and Dr. Kori Propst placing in IFPA, INBF, NPC, IFBB and NMA. During her time with Drs. Joe and Kori she fell in love with the “If It Fits Your Macros” lifestyle and wanted to share this way of life with everyone. She spent the following two years working with Dr. Joe to modify his program for pregnancy, postpartum, and busy moms. She knew that “flexible dieting” was the only way she could live a full life while maintaining her physique. Her frustration with the dieting industry, the yo-yo-ing, pyramid schemes and massive lack of support was what drove her to become a licensed Diet Doc clinician, Licensed Nutritionist, a Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Sports Nutritionist (CISSN), Perinatal Nutrition Specialist, and holds a degree in Nutrition & Dietetics from The Ohio State University. Her passion to help mothers feel their best and have freedom with food drives the core of her business. When she’s not hitting the gym of playing with her kids you’ll find her creating incredible new “macro friendly” recipes, vlogging helpful tips for busy moms on Facebook and Periscope and encouraging everyone around her to live their best lives.

Mackenzie Larson

Being someone who loves food, Mackenzie struggled for years to find a way that would allow her to balance her love of food as well as her desire to live a healthy life. In 2014 she became pregnant with her first child. Early in her pregnancy the doctors told her she had pregnancy induced hypothyroidism. They also explained that there was nothing she could do to help her condition and that she would always struggle with fatigue and weight gain. In 2014 she gave birth to her son and she was determined to return to her pre-pregnancy weight as soon as possible despite what the doctors had said. This quest resulted in crash diets and severe calorie restriction which led to deprivation and binge eating. She knew she could not continue this cycle forever. She then heard about “flexible dieting” and realized she could live the balanced life she was searching for. In early 2015 Mackenzie started as a client with Strong Moms and was able to lose 50 pounds – 30 pounds below her pre-pregnancy weight. She has been able to maintain this weight loss over the last year. Because of her journey, Mackenzie has a deep desire to help other women who may have come across these same obstacles. She has a heart for women who have been told they, “can’t” and help them discover that they CAN do anything they set their minds to.

Nicole Piunno, DMA

Growing up, Nicole was always on the bigger side with her weight, or as her polite friends would say, “big boned”. Though active through sports, her nutrition was lacking and the majority of her diet consisted of frozen dinners and fast food. In 2012, she discovered The Diet Doc and learned about flexible dieting. She began to learn about the responsibility each macronutrient has and also learned how to cook simple meals. After dropping over 50 pounds, she developed some disordered eating due to a disordered mindset. She started working with Ashley in January 2016 and has developed a healthier mindset when it comes to eating and has also dropped down to her lowest weight. She believes the knowledge a person gains from learning the IIFYM lifestyle is a way to experience freedom with food and is also the path towards health. The success she has had with this program leads her to believe many others can also experience success. You’ll often find her at the gym lifting weights, on the road cycling, or at the piano writing music; though one of her deepest passions is watching people experience freedom and success in areas where they once doubted themselves.

Kevin Brunacini, APRN

I am Kevin Brunacini, the proud owner of The Diet Doc – Independence and a licensed and certified family nurse practitioner with experience in endocrinology (hypothyroidism; PCOS). I am also a published author, certified trainer, and health coach. Through the utilization of compassion, empowerment, and education, clients express a more positive mindset and have a better sense of well-being and self-efficacy, resulting in an overall improvement in health and wellness. Having once been morbidly obese, I can relate to the importance of nutrition and weight management. I knew that to help my patients develop healthier lifestyles, I’d need to do the same. Over the course of four years, I lost 121 pounds through healthy lifestyle modifications and established myself as a health leader in the profession, having kept off the weight for over six years. Other than a passion for health and fitness, I am happily married, have two extremely spoiled black labs, and am an avid bass player and singer.

Elizabeth Peshia

Growing up, weight and food was never an issue until Elizabeth was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at age 11. She gained weight quickly after diagnosis and always felt like the "althetic but chubby" girl all the way through college. After growing up going to Dietitians/Diabetes educators she knew that she wanted to work in that field in some way. After graduating with a Bachelors in Mental Health & Human Services and a Bachelors in Theology from Franciscan University of Steubenville she went on to receive a Bachelors in Nutrition & Dietetics from Northern Illinois University. While working on her second degree, she lost all of her college weight gain and later discovered her brother's weight equipment in her family's basement. She loved the strength and confidence weight lifting gave her and is never turning back! Soon after, she got married and started a family having her oldest son in 2014. She lost the pregnancy weight but was struggling to get her body back in shape due to confusion over how a diabetic should eat, maintain good blood sugars, and lose body fat. She had her second son in 2016 and began counting macros with Strong Moms of The Diet Doc. She was blown away by her body's response. She was able to breastfeed successfully, maintain good blood sugar control, and lose the baby weight plus some! The Diet Doc has changed her life and she has seen it change so many others! Helping diabetics, and pregnant and breastfeeding moms is where her heart lies!

Tammy Carter

Strong Moms Coach and Athlete Tammy Carter is a mom of two very active teenage boys (17 & 15), one little girl (5) and two furry kids. Tammy was diagnosed with HELLP Syndrome and pre-eclampisa during her 3rd pregnancy after beating melanoma in 1998. She was determined to find a way to fight off heart disease and high blood pressure through running. What started as an outlet to simply become healthy and meet other moms in her area became her passion but then in 2015 was diagnosed with melanoma for a SECOND time. In 2016 Tammy came to Strong Moms looking to revamp her nutrition because she felt like she was missing a key component in her training. Since taking up running she has completed SEVENTEEN 5ks, two 5k obstacle races, FIVE 10ks, two 15ks, TWENTY-ONE Half Marathons, Two Full Marathons, One 50k Ultra, One 33.1 mile Challenge Weekend 33.1 Miles, as well as two 10M, one sprint triathlon, one 10 miler and 2-Quarry Crushers (one being a “double”)...you could say she enjoys running! After 6 months of being with Strong Moms she completely transformed her life & body by losing 40lbs and shaving over 40 minutes off of her Half-Marathon time. She was asked to join the Strong Moms Ambassador Team and then the coaching team. She also leads a Chapter of MRTT (Moms Runs This Town) in her City, helps to encourage Veterans to become active through Team RWB and can be found volunteering, cheering and encouraging others on her children’s various sports teams, Live Strong and on the course.

Erin Johnston, ACSM CPT

She is married to a fellow powerlifter, Chris, and has two wonderful children, Ian (9) and Eleanor (7). Soon though her husband convinced her to follow him to the “dark side” of fitness and begin a routine of serious barbell training. Now, with a keen understanding of both strength and endurance training systems, she works with women of various ages and experience levels to realize their personal fitness goals.
